MA 323 Geometric Modelling Course Notes: Day 01 Course Introduction

چکیده
The subject of geometric modelling is a blend of different types of geometry, some mathematical modelling, some numerical analysis, and discipline specific applications. In these course notes, we will concentrate of the subdiscipline of geometric modelling known as computeraided geometric design, which was formed from the mathematical structures and methods used in CAD/CAM systems and subsequently exploited in computer graphics and computer animation. Other subdisciplines of geometric modelling include solid modelling and the recent discipline of modelling with modelling by solving (geometric) partial differential equations and solving geometric variational problems.

MA 323 Geometric Modelling Course Notes: Day 21 Three Dimensional Bezier Curves, Projections and Rational Bezier Curves
In extending the planar methods to spatial bases, the algorithms require no modifications, as the algorithms are defined abstractly in terms of affine combinations with no regard to the location of the point as two dimensional or three dimensional (or even higher dimensional). In fact, the constructions of Bezier curves and Bezier splines work exactly as before. All that we need to do is supply...
متن کاملMA 323 Geometric Modelling Course Notes: Day 12 de Casteljau’s Algorithm and Subdivision
Yesterday, we introduced barycentric coordinates and de Casteljau’s algorithm. Today, we want to go more in depth into the mechanics of de Casteljau’s algorithm, and understand some of the nuances of the algorithm. We also want to discuss the efficiency of this algorithm in creating the curve. The algorithm’s power is not necessarily in defining a polynomial curve, but in how the algorithm can ...
متن کاملMA 323 Geometric Modelling Course Notes: Day 08 Cubic Curves and Cubic Hermite Interpolation
We can generalize some of the constructions in the previous section to higher order curves. One problem with using parabolas as the basic curve element for modelling is that a parabola is a convex curve, convexity being defined as the curve lying on one one side of its tangent lines. This means that in order to model a curve that is not convex like S-curve one must use piecewise parabolic curve...
متن کاملLong and Short Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) Training Courses in Afghanistan: A Cross-sectional Cohort Comparison of Post-Course Knowledge and Performance
Background In 2003 the Afghan Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) adopted the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) for delivering child health services in primary care facilities. Key problems were subsequently identified: high cost of training, frequent health worker turnover and poor quality of IMCI implementation by those trained – specifically in the use of job aids and protocols ...
